Dramatic increase in fatal teen crashes

The “100 Deadliest Days” refers to the period each year starting on Memorial Day and going through Labor Day when fatal teen crashes increase dramatically.

Teen drivers

Due to immaturity, lack of skills, and lack of experience, teenagers who drive have a higher rate of fatal crashes than adults who drive. Teenagers make mistakes, they wear their seat belts less often, they get distracted easily, they speed... did we mention they get distracted easily?

What can be done to protect teen drivers?

Despite what teens like to think, parents have lots of positive influence. They are the best line of defense to ensure a safe ride for their teens. Parents have to set expectations, follow through with consequences, and keep lines of communication open.

Have a safe & happy Memorial Day

This period isn't just risky for teen drivers. The National Safety Council (NSC) estimates that 469 people may die on U.S. roads each Memorial Day holiday period (based on 2023 estimates - 2024 not posted as of the time this is being posted). Holidays are always popular times for family vacations so more people are on the road plus lots of people increase their alcohol intake during holiday periods. This all leads to unfavorable statistics.

How our interlock device might be able to help your teen driver avoid drunk driving

Most people aren't exactly thrilled to have to use our interlock device products, but after the process is over most will admit we actually helped them. Our interlock products are designed to keep the roads safer by preventing drunk driving. Parents who are looking for a way to keep their teen drivers safe and sober can contact us to see how voluntary installation our interlock device can help.
